Description

Scarce first edition of the poet's first book: Fits of Dawn by Joseph Ceravolo. First edition, published by Ted Berrigan's 'C' Press, 1965. Mimeographed sheets printed on rectos only and stapled into thick card covers, 8.5 x 11, with cover artwork by Rosemary Ceravolo. Book condition: VG-/None, with toning, staining, and edgewear to wrappers.

Joseph Ceravolo (1934-1988) was an American poet associated with the second generation of the New York School, including such writers as Bernadette Mayer, Bill Berkson, Ron Padgett, Ted Berrigan, Anne Waldman and Lewis Warsh. As Charles North writes '[Ceravolo’s] importance to American poetry over the past 30 years is still largely a secret.'
