Four items signed by a former Chief Justice of the United States Supreme Court: a United States Court of Appeals envelope, postmarked February 22, 1894, hand-addressed by William H. Taft, who incorporates his signature into the address field: “Mrs. Wm. H. Taft, 3rd & Lawrence, Cincinnati, O.”; a mailing envelope hand-addressed by Salmon P. Chase to “Hon. Milton Sutcliff,” with Salmon adding his franking signature to the upper right, “S. P. Chase, U.S.S.”; a mailing envelope postmarked June 4, 1930, signed in black ink by Charles Evans Hughes; and an off-white 5 x 3 card signed by Earl Warren. In overall very good to fine condition, with a thin stain to the Taft.
