American military officer and business executive (1879-1969) under whose leadership Sears, Roebuck & Co. grew from a mail-order business to the world's largest merchandiser. TLS signed “R. E. Wood,” one page, 7 x 10.5, Sears, Roebuck and Co. letterhead, June 26, 1929. Letter to W. S. Carroll, in full: "I have your letter of June 24th. I do not know what will materialize on the Harvey matter, but will advise you if necessary. I would rather have you with ourselves and I think when your vacation is up we will be in a position to place you. Please let me know when you would like to start work." In fine condition, with pin holes and crinkling to the upper left corner.
