Popular and influential American author and journalist (1880-1956) best known for his satirical pieces that took aim at contemporary American society. TLS, one page, 8.25 x 5.5, personal letterhead, October 9, 1933. Letter to Mr. Baradinsky, concerning his resignation as editor of the American Mercury, in full: “Thanks very much for your pleasant note. I autographed the books while I was in New York, and Miss Lustgarten will forward them to you. If you ever have any others I'll be glad to add them to the list. It is a great relief to get rid of my routine. I have had a lot of fun, but after ten years of steady manuscript reading it is pleasant to think of having more leisure to write.” Affixed to a slightly larger sheet and in fine condition.
