French writer and poet (1896-1966) best known as the founder of Surrealism. ALS in French, one page, 8.25 x 10.5, January 16, 1954. Handwritten letter to a singer by Andre Breton, who also prints his name as part of his return address at the conclusion. In part (translated): "I have received from this morning from Mrs. Andre Bourdel a moving letter that says a lot about you and your songs in such terms that I have the greatest desire to listen to them. If as I suppose you would attend my desire would you have the extreme kindness of writing me or phoning me at Trinity 2833. My wife would also very much want to listen to you." In very good to fine condition, with light ceasing and short fold splits.
