Officer (1748-1831) in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War who fought in the Battle of Bunker Hill and retired with the rank of colonel. He later served as adjutant general of the Rhode Island militia. Scarce ink signature, "I am your most obed't & very Hum'l Sev't, Wm. Barton, Col.,” on an off-white 4.5 x 2 sheet clipped from a letter and affixed to an album page. In fine condition.
