Description

Canadian-born physician and researcher (1849-1919) who was a founding professor of Johns Hopkins Hospital, widely regarded as the 'Father of Modern Medicine' for his pioneering work in medical assessment, diagnosis, and education. ALS signed “Wm. Osler,” two pages on two adjoining sheets, 4 x 6.25, 13 Norham Gardens, Oxford letterhead, no date. A handwritten letter from William Osler to “Bradley,” in part: “Unfortunately I have to go beyond Reading this year to see a stranded American & cannot come to Nuneham at 6 as I hoped to do. I shall be in London Thursday & Friday & Saturday go north to Newcastle for the British Med. Association. Will see you on my return. Tell Treadwell that we have much interest at the Heart Hospital. I am there every Thursday morning.” Osler adds a postscript: “Blackwell, the Oxford bookseller, would get the books for you.” In fine condition.
