Description

American politician (1769-1828) who served as senator and who, as governor of New York, played a major role in the construction of the Erie Canal. Partly-printed DS, one page, 15.5 x 9.75, April 8, 1822. As governor of New York, DeWitt Clinton appoints David Jennings as "Colonel of the 100th Regiment of Infantry of our said State.” Neatly signed at the conclusion by Governor Clinton and countersigned by Secretary John Van Ness Yates. In very good to fine condition, with scattered light foxing, and some splitting to the intersecting folds.
