Screenwriter, playwright, and author (1888-1981) best remembered for her blockbuster comic novel, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which earned even greater notoriety with its 1953 screen adaptation starring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell. TLS, one page, 6.5 x 9, Grand Hotel & La Pace (Montecatini Terme, Italy) letterhead, June 26, 1962. Letter to her publicity agent, Mr. Pell, in full: “Enclosed is a sort of tongue-in-cheek resume of the birth of my book which I hope will meet your requirements for the new edition. If you wish any changes, let me know. I am also mailing a copy to Albert Bermel, in case it may conflict with or duplicate something in his article. Not being able to type, the manuscript is a mess and for this I apologize. I am keeping to the schedule I left with you and will return home on the S.S. Flandre on August fourteenth. I hope you are having a pleasant summer and look forward to seeing you in August (Hopefully with a word from Sir Julian for the book.)." In fine condition, with scattered tiny stains and a trimmed right edge.
