Description

TLS signed “James R. Leavelle,” one page, 8.5 x 11, January 12, 1994. Letter regarding the Kennedy assassination and various conspiracy theories surrounding it, in part: "It is refreshing to know some one is questioning some of the wild stories that have been related on TV and other media outlets…Most of these stories came out eight to ten years after the fact, and for several reasons, mostly for publicity, notoriety or to make money. Mr. Hoffman, the deaf mute is a classic example of this type witness. We had a uniform officer within 50 feet of the spot where he said the transfer of the rifle took place. He ran to that area which took maybe ten seconds. He did not see any one that would fit the description Mr. Hoffman described and in that length of time they could not have dismantled the gun and put it into a tool box with out him seeing what was happening….Another thing Mr. Hoffman was not aware of, is that the munitions makers stopped making ammunition that smoked in the mid forties. They have used smokeless powder and you could stand within thirty feet of a rifle when it is fired and you would not see any smoke. A lot of people jumped on that band wagon after Jean Hill the lady in red who was also on that program. She came up with her new story some ten years after the event." In fine condition.
