In 1990, Prince opened a nightclub in his hometown Minneapolis called “Glam Slam,” named after one of his songs (the second single off the 1988 'Lovesexy' album). Frequented by celebrities, supermodels, and Prince insiders, Glam Slam became one of the city’s hot spots, providing him with a venue to host parties and promote musical artists he appreciated and admired. During the early years of the club, artists such as Miles Davis, Chaka Khan, George Clinton, and Tupac Shakur performed there. Prince also performed here himself 19 times in less than four years, as well as filming music videos and sharing unreleased music with the DJ to play for those in attendance.
