Mailing envelope, 5.75 x 4.5, addressed in bold black ink in the hand of Igor Stravinsky to “Mrs. Dagmar Godowsky, The Navarro, 112 Central Park South, New York City, Etats-Unis d'Amerique,” who adds in the upper left corner, “S/S Aquitania, via Cherbourg,” and signs on the reverse, “I. Stravinsky, 25 Fbrg, St. Honore, Paris, France.” Postmarked on January 13, 1929. In fine condition.
Dagmar Godowsky was an American silent film actress (1897-1975) who, in her autobiography First Person Plural, named Enrico Caruso, Arthur Rubinstein, Jascha Heifetz, Charles Chaplin, Igor Stravinsky, and Rudolph Valentino among her ‘great loves.’
