French actor, director, and mime artist (1910-1994) who worked on both screen and stage. One of his most famous performances was in Marcel Carné's 1945 film Les Enfants du Paradis, in which he played the mime Jean-Gaspard Deburau. Large vintage 10 x 14.5 paperstock photo of a 'resurrected' Jean-Louis Barrault in full makeup and costume for the 1951 play Lazare, signed and inscribed in thin black felt tip, "To D. Jackson, J. L. Barrault.” Affixed to a same-size cardstock mount and in fine condition, with some light staining.
