Description

NASA astronaut Bob Overmeyer’s bright orange military-issued K-2B coveralls flight suit that he presented to Anatole Forostenko, the Chief Russian Language Instructor for the NASA astronauts for the Apollo-Soyuz test project. The flight suit, size small regular, features a manufacturing label to the inner collar that reads: “Suit, Flying, Man’s Very Light, K-2B / 8415-656-1277 / Small Regular / MIL-S-62650 (USAF) (1) / Mason & Hughes, Inc. / QM (CTM) 10037-C-61 / March 22, 1961.” The inner collar loop is faintly marked in felt tip. In fine, used condition. Overmyer served on the American support crew for the Apollo-Soyuz mission alongside astronauts Karol J. Bobko, Bob Crippen, and Richard H. Truly. The consignor notes that Overmyer lent this suit to Forostenko so the latter wasn’t restricted to wearing a suit and tie when he was going in and out of the Apollo spacecraft. When the mission was completed, Overmyer presented this flight suit to Forostenko as a gift.
