Description

French-born American industrial designer (1893-1986) who achieved fame for the magnitude of his design efforts across a variety of industries. Among his designs were the Shell, Exxon, TWA and the former BP logos, the Greyhound Scenicruiser bus, Coca-Cola vending machines and bottle redesign, the Lucky Strike package, Coldspot refrigerators, and the Studebaker Avanti. Vintage glossy 7.75 x 10 portrait photo of Loewy by the Hawthorne Studio of Flushing, New York, signed and inscribed in black ink, "To Jimmy Wiggins, with best regards, Raymond Loewy, Nov. 48.” Reverse bears a photography studio stamp. In very good to fine condition, with paperclip impression to the top edge, and vertical creases on either side of his face.
