Unusual group of pencil sketches and handwritten manuscript by Thomas Nast, signed "Th. N.," written on both sides of a dust jacket for Society As I Have Found It by Ward McAllister, split into three sections, featuring a number of rough figural sketches and a satirical manuscript, in part: "Of Society. An Artistic review—as I have found it. The McAllister Ward. This book is intended to be—Hush, a sort of sacred line—Edition deLuxe—Limited to four hundred (thousand) copies—Price—the pub. receives his right to get what he can—without further notice. Each one unbroken…and…will be crushed in shush!" In very good condition, with edge chips and tears, and complete clean separation along one of the vertical folds.
