Description

ALS signed “G. Bernard Shaw,” penned on one of his personal 'Mr. Bernard Shaw's Secretary' envelopes, 6.5 x 9.5, dated October 19, 1937. A brief handwritten letter to John Thomlinson Ltd., in full: "My stock of these blue printed envelopes is running out. Please send me 350 to my country address as above," which reads: "Ayot St Lawrence Welwyn. Herts." In very good condition, with overall creasing, pin holes, and a central fold. George Bernard Shaw lived in Ayot St Lawrence, a small English village and civil parish in Hertfordshire, two miles west of Welwynn, from 1906 until his death in 1950; his ashes are scattered there. His house, Shaw's Corner, is open to the public as a National Trust property.
