Description

Officer of the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War (1752-1810) and second cousin to President George Washington. ALS signed “Wm. A. Washington,” one page, 6.5 x 8.25, May 1, 1799. Handwritten letter to William Russell, in part: “In consequence of yr two letters which were duly rec’d I have from time to time attempted the sale of our land—ten…& at last fourteen shillings have been offer’d at the periods of payment you mention—& the debut well secured—Believing that we shall not ever obtain a better offer especially under present prospects I have determined to accept the offer, & request you to send me a power of attorney to convey the same of agreeable to your views.” In fine condition, with trimmed edges.
