Original issue of the New-York Herald with coverage of the Louisiana Purchase Treaty, four pages, 14 x 20.75, November 16, 1803. The newspaper boasts front-page coverage of the "Louisiana Treaty," covering proceedings in the House. In part: "The president, having expressed his expectation that Congress would forthwith provide for the immediate occupation and temporary government of Louisiana, it became necessary for them to ascertain in the first place what provision was really requisite. Was the territory to be taken possession of peaceably or by force? Was our title to it complete or conditional? Acknowledged by the party in actual possession or denied? The solution of these preliminary questions being important in reference to the kind and degree of provision to be made, the President was requested today before the House such documents as related to these points." In fine condition.
