French composer and teacher (1851-1931) best known for his 'Symphony on a French Mountain Air.' Vintage matte-finish 3.75 x 5.5 photo of d'Indy at work by Henri Manuel of Paris, affixed to its original 7.25 x 10.75 mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in fountain pen, "Madame B. Darfman, en souvenir…Vincent d'Indy.” Also signed in pencil by the photographer. In fine condition, with two light stains in the left margin of the mount.
