Description

Uncommon handbill headed "Exhibition Lawn Tennis Matches," held at Regent's Park, London, on July 6, 1924, one page, 5 x 8, signed on the reverse in fountain pen by several tennis stars, including: Vincent Richards (and his wife Claremont), Suzanne Lenglen, Dorothy Shepherd-Barron, Evelyn L. Colyer, Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman, Phyllis Satterthwaite, Betty Nuthall, Joan Austin, and Elizabeth Ryan. Encapsulated in Mylar and in fine condition. Accompanied by two modern photo prints: one of Wightman and one of Richards. Autographs of both Lenglen and Colyer are considerably scarce.

Vincent Richards (1903-1959) - 1924 Olympics in Paris, two golds and a silver.
Suzanne Lenglen (1899-1938) - 1924 Olympics in Paris, two golds and a bronze. Multiple French Open wins.
Dorothy Shepherd-Barron (1897-1953) - 1924 Olympics in Paris, bronze.
Evelyn L. Colyer (1902-1930) - 1924 Olympics in Paris, bronze.
Hazel Hotchkiss Wightman (1886-1974) - 1924 Olympics in Paris, two golds.
Phyllis Satterthwaite (1886-1932) - 1924 Olympics in Paris, no medal.
Betty Nuthall (1911-1983) - French Open winner, Multiple U.S. Open wins. Signed this at 13 years of age. Not an Olympian.
Joan Austin (1903-1998) - No major wins on tour. Not an Olympian.
Elizabeth Ryan (1892-1979) - winner of 19 Wimbledon Championships. She died on the grounds of the All England Tennis and Croquet Club at Wimbledon the day before Billie Jean King broke her record of Wimbledon wins. Not an Olympian.
