William Stedman, confirming his support of Tinker for district attorney of Northern Ohio. In full: "Unless a candidate for the District Attorneyship of the Northern District of Ohio should come up in my own District I am pledged to the support of Tinker. Brooks is no doubt a good man, and would make an efficient officer, but I think he comes up too late to be successful. I have received a letter from Taylor asking my assistance in securing his appointment for Ecuador but, have written to him that I am pledged to you and cannot expect two foreign appointments from Postage Co." In fine condition, with the trimmed bottom edge slightly impinging on the signature.
