(Walt Disney Studios, 1955) Magnificent original panoramic concept painting by Eyvind Earle for Lady and the Tramp, beautifully rendering the iconic 'Bella Notte' scene in the alleyway behind Tony's Restaurant. The exquisite painting shows Lady and Tramp seated at the candlelit table as Tony and Joe serenade them during their romantic spaghetti supper. Accomplished in gouache on 21.5 x 9.25 artist's board, neatly signed in the lower right corner in pink paint by Eyvind Earle. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners.
Though chiefly employed as a background artist, Eyvind Earle was also assigned to create concepts for Lady and the Tramp's 'Sequence 7'—otherwise known as the 'Bella Notte' scene. In accomplishing the task, he created almost 50 miniature concept sketches, and—as here evinced—several larger ones. He was a key contributor to the animation of the classic film, and would go on to serve as production designer for Sleeping Beauty. A quintessential Eyvind Earle masterwork for one of the most memorable scenes in the Disney canon.
