(Walt Disney Studios, 1950) Marvelous original concept painting by Mary Blair featuring Cinderella and her Fairy Godmother from Cinderella, showing the Fairy Godmother just moments after magically constituting Cinderella's ball gown. Expertly rendered in pinks, grays, purples, and blues, the nighttime scene is mixed beautifully with areas of focused light, such as the moon and stars, an illuminated pumpkin patch, and Cinderella's radiant new gown. Accomplished in tempera on 9.5 x 9 illustration board. In fine condition, with tack holes to corners. An attractive and well-composed piece by the prolific Disney concept artist.
Blair was a concept artist for Disney during the 1940s and early 1950s, working on designs for such films as Peter Pan, Cinderella, and Alice in Wonderland. She also created designs for several Disney attractions (including It's a Small World), and her largest work ever, the multi-story mosaic in Disney World's Contemporary Hotel concourse.
