Fillmore cheerfully sends his autograph, a consolation prize: "I can not furnish you with that of President Taylor"

ALS, one page, 6.25 x 8.5, February 8, 1855. Handwritten letter to Samuel A. Briggs of Providence, Rhode Island, in full: "I cheerfully comply with your request for my autograph, but right to say that I can not furnish you with that of President Taylor." In very good condition, with scattered small stains, and irregular toning.
