Esteemed German-American film director (1890-1976) who helmed such classics as M, Fury, and the landmark science-fiction epic Metropolis. Two TLSs from Fritz Lang, both one page, 7 x 9 and 8.75 x 11, dated April 23, 1961, and October 3, 1974. The earlier letter in German, sent to Helmut Lierenfeld, in full (translated): “Unfortunately, after receiving your second letter, I cannot respond to your request, as I am leaving for India in a few hours and will be staying there for a long time. I can't say today when I'll be back in Germany and I'm sorry that I couldn't comply with your request.” The 1974 letter, sent to Victor Scherle and William Turner Levy, in part: “Thank you for your note about Man Hunt which I enjoyed very much…When will your book about Frank Capra appear." In overall fine condition.
