Description

Distinguished French director (1894-1979) whose 1939 classic Rules of the Game takes a place among the most acclaimed films ever made. DS, one page, 8.5 x 10.75, July 15, 1927. Official document on Films Renoir letterhead, which reads (translated): “I, undersigned Jean Renoir, certify that Mr. Mac Allegret is in the midst of editing a film titled ‘Troglodytes in Tripolitania’ that was already announced in the cinema magazine ‘French Cinema.’ Mr. Marc Allegret’s editing work on that film was interrupted by a car accident, as certified by the medical note. It is mandatory that Mr. Allegret be able to finish his work because the release of the film is expected and also because several houses have already requested it.” Signed at the conclusion in ink by Renoir, and countersigned below by a witness. In very good to fine condition, with light overall creasing.
