Two items related to the Beatles’ historic concert at the John F. Kennedy Stadium in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 16, 1966, both deriving from the famous Steel Pier amusement park in Atlantic City, New Jersey. The first is an original Steel Pier program, 16 pages, 8.5 x 11, which contains an advertisement for the Beatles show at JFK Stadium, “One night only-rain or shine,” as well as a summer schedule for musicians playing Steel Pier between June 18 and September 5, 1966, which includes the Rolling Stones (July 1), Dionne Warwick (June 24-30), The Byrds (July 15-16), the Supremes (July 24-30), and more. The second item is an original “Funtime, Steel Pier” handbill, 8.5 x 14, dated July 24-30, 1966, featuring daily attractions such as movies, stage show (“The Supremes”), dance bands (“Gene Krupa”), upcoming acts (The Four Seasons, Stevie Wonder, The Animals, Duke Ellington, etc.), and a section reading “August 16th 1966, BEATLES! BEATLES! BEATLES!,” stating that tickets can be purchased at the Steel Pier Celebrity Corner in Music Hall Lobby. In overall very good to fine condition, with light creasing and handling wear.
