NASA astronaut Jim McDivitt’s group of eight vintage glossy 4.25 x 7.5 Polaroid photos of NASA Astronaut Group 2 during a group photo shoot with a Gemini spacecraft. Seven of the photos depict the legendary group—Neil Armstrong, Frank Borman, Charles Conrad, James Lovell, Jim McDivitt, Elliot See, Tom Stafford, Ed White, and John Young—in varying degrees of formality; some photos depict the men stoic and face-forward, while others show them having fun with sitting, laughing, making faces, and holding astronaut dolls. The only non-group photo, 7.5 x 4.25, portrays McDivitt seated inside a spacecraft cockpit. The reverse of each group photo is stamped “Polaroid, F30512A,” and the lone McDivitt photo is stamped “Polaroid, F31312A.” In very good to fine condition, with discoloration to the images due to improper photo processing. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating that the photos were purchased at the McDivitt family estate sale held in Tucson, Arizona, on April 1, 2022. Rare snapshots of some of NASA's best and brightest in a seldom-seen moment of levity, with Conrad unsurprisingly stealing the show.
