NASA astronaut Jim McDivitt’s bronze-tone Service Medal from the Boy Scouts of America, 2.75″ in diameter, with the front featuring the BSA logo in relief below raised text, “In Recognition of Your Service to the Boy Scouts of America,” and the scroll to lower portion engraved “James A. McDivitt.” The reverse bears “The Scout Oath” in raised lettering. Condition is mint state. Includes a green Arthus-Bertrand presentation case. Accompanied by a letter of provenance stating that the medal was purchased at the McDivitt family estate sale held in Tucson, Arizona, on April 1, 2022.
As a boy scout, McDivitt earned the rank of Tenderfoot Scout, the second rank a Scout can earn, which is awarded when the Scout completes requirements in the areas of Scoutcraft, physical fitness, citizenship, personal growth, and Scout Spirit.
