Unique archive from the recovery of Apollo 8 and its U.S.S. Yorktown recovery ship, consisting of a piece of Kapton (ostensibly flown, given the context in the archive and burn marks to foil); a U.S.S. Yorktown shoulder patch; a cover canceled on board the ship on the recovery date; eleven 5 x 7 black-and-white photos taken by Guy Tyler; nine color glossy 4 x 4 candids; a CVS-10 USS Yorktown form letter discussing the mission (dated December 1968); an issue of the ship's "Yorktown Crier" newsletter covering the recovery (dated January 3, 1968); a glossy 10 x 8 photo of the ship signed in ink by Captain John G. Fifield; two color glossy 10 x 8 photos, one of the Command Module post-splashdown and one of the recovered spacecraft; and a color 10 x 8 print of the ship. All color photos have “A Kodak Paper” watermarks on the reverse. In overall fine condition, with surface loss to one of the color 10 x 8 photos.
