Impressive NASA-owned 1:15 scale model of the Landsat 7 satellite built by Central Art & Engineering, Inc., of Allentown, New Jersey, housed in its 26.5″ x 13.75″ x 13.75″ wooden crate bearing several affixed NASA logos. The model measures approximately 10″ x 7.5″ x 29″ (with much of its height due to the large upright solar array), and is displayed on an attractive acrylic stand with engraved nameplate. In fine condition.
Built by Lockheed Martin Space Systems and launched on April 15, 1999, Landsat 7's primary goal is to refresh the global archive of satellite photos, providing up-to-date and cloud-free images. It is the seventh satellite of the Landsat program, managed and operated by the United States Geological Survey. Large parts of the Earth's surface displayed on web mapping services like Google Earth are based on enhanced and color-balanced Landsat 7 imagery.
