Pennsylvania Dutch co-founder and president of the Studebaker Corporation automobile company (1833-1917). The firm began as a coachbuilder for horse-drawn wagons, buggies, and carriages; it entered the automotive industry with electric vehicles in 1902, followed by gasoline-powered cars in 1904. Scarce vintage matte-finish 4.75 x 7.5 photo of Studebaker at work, signed in the lower border in ink, "J. M. Studebaker, 1833, 1915." In fine condition, with light silvering to the bottom edges of the image.
