American civil rights activist (born 1954) who, at the tender age of six, was the first African-American child to integrate an elementary school in the South. Bridges enrolled at the William Frantz Elementary School in Louisiana during the New Orleans school desegregation crisis on November 14, 1960. Signed book: This Is Your Time. First edition.
