Uncommon 4.25 x 5.75 photo of Prince Arthur in uniform by W. & D. Downey, signed in the upper left corner in ink, "Arthur, 1886." In very good to fine condition, with scattered light foxing, and a trimmed bottom border.
Arthur was the seventh child (third son) of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. A military man, he served in the British Army for 40 years, seeing active service in much of the British Empire. Also titled the Earl of Sussex, he was made Governor General of Canada in 1911. He became Queen Victoria’s last surviving son.
