Description

Two TLSs from Vice President George Bush, both one page, 6.25 x 9 and 7 x 9, addressed to Ronald G. Eberhardt, the director of Congressional Relations at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). The first letter, Vice President letterhead that’s marked “(Self-typed),” November 8, 1983, in part: “It has been a pleasure working with you…I want to wish you the very best in your challenging new assignment. Thanks so much for that generous offer of continuing support. Heavens knows 1984 will be a year of challenge and the support that you offer will be much appreciated.” The second, personal letterhead, October 19, 1984, weeks before the 1984 United States presidential election, in full: “Your thoughtful message was waiting for me when I returned to Washington for a brief stay between stops. Many thanks for those kind, supportive words.” In overall fine condition. Accompanied by their original mailing envelopes, as well as an official 1981 inauguration program, an unused inaugural ball ticket, and an inaugural ball information form.
