Description

French-American director, screenwriter, film journalist, and actor (1900-1979) who directed more than 50 films, the best known likely being the Marx Brothers' first feature The Cocoanuts. His 1932 foray into Universal-style horror, Murders in the Rue Morgue, is regarded by horror fans as highly reflective of German expressionism. Vintage glossy 7 x 9 photo director Robert Florey and actor Boris Karloff on the set of the Thriller episode 'The Incredible Doktor Markesan,' signed and inscribed in black felt tip, "To Phil Riley from Boris Karloff and Robert Florey, Universal City, 1962.” In very good to fine condition, with overall light crazing to the emulsion.
