English rear-admiral and Arctic explorer (1790-1855) best known for his 1819-1820 expedition through the Parry Channel, probably the most successful in the long quest for the Northwest Passage. ALS signed “W. Parry,” one page, 4.5 x 5.75, no date. Handwritten letter to "Stokes," in full: "Very many thanks for your kind presents, in deeding the yard of court plaister, all which I have received quite safe. The shells on my back table are much at your service, and I have told my landlady that you will send for them in a day or two.” In very good to fine condition, with trimmed edges, and light show-through, from old mounting remnants on the back.
