Original glossy 5 x 4.25 silver gelatin photo of Judge Roy Bean on horseback in front of his headquarters in the old town of Langtry, Texas. The building, which was both a courthouse and a saloon, features signs that read: “Judge Roy Bean, Notary Public,” “Justice of the Peace,” “Law West of the Pecos,” and Billiard Hall.” Reverse bears two stamps, one of which states that “This print is from the 2500 negatives pertaining to the Western frontier, owned outright by Frontier Pix”; the other states: “This is a print from the famous N. H. Rose Collection of Old Time Photographs, San Antonio, Texas, negatives especially hand-made, private property.” In very good condition, with trimmed edges, light crazing and creasing, a small area of emulsion loss to the front right edge, and old adhesive residue on the reverse.
