American statesman (1769-1848) who served as a U.S. Representative, Senator, Tennessee Supreme Court Justice, a U.S. Ambassador to Russia, and the 5th United States Secretary of the Treasury. Hand-addressed mailing envelope, 6 x 3.25, filled out by George W. Campbell and addressed to “John Seamy, Esqr., Philadelphia,” and franked above, "Free, G:o W. Campbell.” In very good to fine condition, with two vertical folds. Docketing to reverse dates the envelope to February 1808. Encapsulated backward in a PSA/DNA authentication holder, grading the autograph as "NM 7."
