Exquisitely rare matte-finish 5 x 7 photo of Tsaritsa Alexandra Feodorovna in an elegant seated side pose by Boasson and Eggler, affixed to the original 10.25 x 13 studio mount, which is signed beautifully in bold black ink, "Alexandra, 1914." The lower left bears the studio's blindstamp. In very good to fine condition, with light discoloration, and professional repairs, to the wide borders.
A spectacularly rare photo of the last Empress consort of Russia, who along with her husband, Emperor Nicholas II, and her five children, Olga, Tatiana, Maria, Anastasia, and Alexei, were murdered by Bolshevik revolutionaries some four years after having signed this photograph. This marks the first signed portrait of Alix of Hesse that we have ever offered.
