American bishop and cardinal of the Catholic Church (born 1889) who, from 1939 until his death in 1967, served as the sixth Archbishop of New York; he had previously served as an auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Boston from 1932 through 1939. Attractive matte-finish 7.25 x 9.25 portrait of the Archbishop of New York by the Fabian Bachrach Studio, affixed to the original 10.25 x 13.25 studio mount, signed and inscribed on the mount in black ink, "Mr. & Mrs. Kenneth Browne, with a blessing, F. Cardinal Spellman.” Includes the original Bachrach presentation folder. In very fine condition.
