Just after leaving the White House, Hayes presents his portrait to a future Pulitzer Prize winner

Vintage matte-finish 4.25 x 6.5 cabinet photo of Hayes in a near-profile pose by Sarony, signed and inscribed on the reverse in fountain pen, "My compliments to Edward W. Bok, Rutherford B. Hayes, 26 July 1881, Fremont, O.” In fine condition. Edward W. Bok (1863-1930) was an author and journalist who served as editor of The Ladies Home Journal from 1889 to 1919, and won a Pulitzer Prize for his autobiography in 1921. Encapsulated in a PSA/DNA authentication holder.
