TLS as president-elect, one page, 7 x 10.25, personal letterhead, December 29, 1952. Letter to Ruth Noble, in full: "I am writing you to express my deep personal gratitude for the outstanding work you did on behalf of our campaign. The dedicated group of Americans who organized themselves into the now famous movement known as ‘Citizens for Eisenhower-Nixon,’ played a unique role in the events that led to our victory on November 4th. That night we won the right and the high privilege to embark upon the Crusade to which you and I had pledged ourselves. To justify their faith and confidence, we now have the responsibility of putting into effect the mandate of our countrymen. I know you can be counted on to help.” In fine condition.
The recipient’s husband, John Noble (1923-2007) was a famous author, a friend of Billy Graham, and a WWII Soviet POW who was released in 1955 in a deal negotiated by Eisenhower. Noble spent decades on the lecture circuit, usually hosted by evangelical, conservative, and human rights organizations. He worked to publicize his belief that countless American GIs were being held as ghost prisoners in communist prisons.
