Graded by PSA VG 3. The key card to the inaugural hockey set from Topps, this Gordie Howe issue belongs on the Mount Rushmore of all hockey cards. Capitalizing off their very popular 1953 Topps baseball issue, Topps issued their first hockey card set with a similar solid-color name band along the bottom and team logo in the corner, with the additional design element of the player's facsimile autograph running across his image. This example is well-centered with a bit of wear to the edges and lower corners.
Howe was the quintessential elite hockey player with speed, strength, skill, and vision, capable of shooting the puck from both the left and right-handed sides. This example of Howe's first Topps card is similar with excellent eye appeal, and is one of the top hockey cards in the hobby.
