Description

Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Delaware (1734-1817) who later served as president of the Continental Congress, Chief Justice of Pennsylvania, and Governor of Pennsylvania. Partly-printed vellum DS, signed “Tho's M:Kean,” one page, 19.75 x 12.25, November 20, 1800. As governor of Pennsylvania, McKean grants James C. Fisher a "certain tract of land called Hickory Grove,' situate on the Waters of black lick Creek in Wheatfield Township Westmoreland County.” Signed in the upper left by Governor McKean and countersigned at the conclusion by James Trimble as deputy secretary. The upper left retains its original paper seal. In very good condition, with areas of soiling and staining, and some loss along the intersecting folds.
