Description

Vellum manuscript DS as president, one page, 11.75 x 14.5, April 5, 1832. Desirable land grant for military service, in part: "In consideration of Military Service performed by James Knox, a Major for seven years and ten months, & Matthew Grigg, a soldier for three years to the United States in the Virginia Line on Continental Establishment…there is granted by the United States unto James Taylor, assignee of the said James Knox, and also as assignee of the said Matthew Grigg, a certain tract of Land containing Two hundred and forty three acres situate in the north west of the river Ohio." Boldly signed at the conclusion by President Jackson and countersigned by Commissioner of the General Land Office Elijah Hayward. The white paper seal affixed to the left side remains intact. Impressively suede-matted and framed with a portrait and engraved plaque to an overall size of 30.5 x 25.5, with a glass backing for viewing the opposite side. In fine condition.
