Rare and important white-matte RIAA gold record sales award presented "to The Beatles to commemorate the sale of more than one million dollars worth of the Capitol Records long-playing record album 'Revolver.'" Framed with its disc, plate, and a small image of the album cover to an overall size of 17.5 x 21.5; the award appears to be rebacked and bears a replica of the New York Frame & Picture label. In fine condition, wear to the frame, and some foxing to the mat.
Released on August 5, 1966, Revolver was certified gold less than three weeks later on August 22nd, and would remain on the Billboard charts for nearly a year-and-a-half. Filled with unearthly, psychedelic sounds, it proved to be a major influence on popular music and 1960s counterculture as a whole. It has been repeatedly ranked as one of the greatest albums of all time, and certainly stands as one of the Beatles' most important records.
