Eminent French sculptor (1834-1904) best known for designing the Statue of Liberty. Scarce 2.5 x 4 carte-de-visite portrait of Frederic-Auguste Bartholdi in a distinguished bust-length pose, signed in the lower border in black ink, "Bartholdi." Published by Pierre Petit of Paris. Affixed to a same-size mount and in very good condition, with creasing, staining, and surface rubbing. Accompanied by an original sepia-tone 5.25 x 2.75 photograph of the Statue of Liberty on Liberty Island in New York harbor, dated by the photographer to August 22, 1907.
