Belgian composer and violinist (1820-1881) considered an essential part of the Franco-Belgian violin school during the mid-19th century. ALS in French, signed "H. Vieuxtemps," one page, 5.5 x 8, July 8, 1842. Addressed from Brussels, a partially translated handwritten letter from Henri Vieuxtemps, thanking his correspondent and then explaining: "I will go to Paris as soon as I will be able to because I want you to listen to my sonnet for piano and violin that I am trying to finish and it will be very agreeable to me to know your opinion. While this does not happen please accept my all." In very good to fine condition, with a mounting strip along the left edge, and light wear and toning along the right edge.
